What Mind Music Is

On all texts in the Knowledge area: I write here from my own work and perspective.

To this day, there is no standard term for this kind of music. I call it Mind Music. It addresses not only your ear, but all levels of your being and your consciousness.

It is composed in such a way that it does not only entertain you. Quiet, spatial or familiar sounds can lie outside your current focus of attention. That does not mean that precise messages are transferred unnoticed into a “subconscious”. How deeply you engage also depends on attention, expectation and the situation.

What it can support you with

Depending on the intention with which a piece was created and what you need at the moment:

  • find inner calm and balance
  • increase your performance
  • support a wide variety of mental exercises
  • transform feelings
  • improve your sleep quality
  • brighten your mood
  • expand your consciousness
  • release obstructive patterns

What it consists of

For me, Mind Music is a mixture of many different styles: New Age, Ambient, World, Trance and spiritual music. Added to this are sacred chants, ritual instruments, prayers, mantras, nature sounds and sounds of landscapes.

This is combined with spiritual and mystical knowledge and with psychoacoustic recording and production techniques. How exactly this comes together is explained in applied production and effect techniques.

What distinguishes it from other effect music

There are some productions that work with effective frequencies. In my work, composition and aesthetic sensibility come first. Where possible, I integrate the technique into the piece to such an extent that you do not consciously notice it while listening and it does not disturb you.

This is not a side issue. A frequency that annoys you while listening works against what it is there for.

Sound Journeys instead of pieces of music

Painted: a figure stands in a boat drifting on the water between many glowing moons.

Most of my pieces are more like meditative Sound Journeys. You really only understand and feel them when you are ready, while listening, to let go of everything and simply let your mind and consciousness flow.

If you listen to the music attentively rather than only analytically, you may notice other details and inner reactions. This is an invitation to a way of listening, not a condition for a guaranteed effect.

You can also listen to every song in passing or for another purpose. How much you notice and how you experience it can differ depending on attention and the situation.

What I do differently

I take great care to make my music stand out from other productions in this field. Other music does not have to be worse, yet much of it sounds very similar and is always produced according to the same pattern.

Often, the claims on sites in this field are greatly exaggerated. When it comes to effect, they promise the moon to boost sales. Here I try to present my own experiences and the current state of knowledge as soberly as possible. This allows you to form your own view of whether and how you want to use this music.

You do not have to share a spiritual explanation in order to listen to the music or experience it as pleasant. Whether and how it benefits you cannot, however, be promised for every person.

What it is not

No magic

Mind Music is intended as a musical framework for attention, relaxation and personal exercises. Whether it supports you in this is individual; a physical or mental effect is not presupposed.

Not necessary

Meditation, autogenic training and other exercises do not need this music. It can serve as a framework for you, but it does not replace your own practice and does not guarantee the same results. Some people find it easier to calm down with music, others without it.
