Listening Safely

On all texts in the Knowledge area: I write here from my own work and perspective.

Some Sound Journeys contain binaural or isochronic pulses. The auditory system can measurably respond to regular sound stimuli; this does not result in any particular state of consciousness. A few practical precautions should nevertheless be mentioned before you listen for the first time.

Possible side effects at the beginning

Sound, volume, headphone pressure or long periods of concentrated listening can become unpleasant. Interrupt the session if you experience headache, a feeling of pressure, dizziness or discomfort. Recurring or stronger complaints should be medically assessed; habituation is not guaranteed.

Then take a break and do not continue listening on the same day out of a sense of obligation. Water can help with ordinary thirst, but it is not a treatment for a reaction to sound stimuli.

As with other longer listening or meditation phases, pay attention to your well-being and drink enough. A dry mouth is not a typical or diagnostic effect of Brainwave Entrainment.

Listen to a sample first

Please use the audio sample first. My music is in part a little different from similar music in this area. It should appeal to you; you do not have to keep listening to unpleasant music in order to achieve a claimed effect.

The right volume

Use the first sound at the beginning of the journey to set a moderate volume so that it is comfortably loud. Do not change the volume after that.

This is not a detail. A piece such as Sleep Waves deliberately becomes quieter while it is playing. If you adjust the volume, you take away exactly the movement it was made for.

Not the whole night

The sleep pieces are intended to carry you over, not to run through the whole sleep phase. Set playback so that it ends.
